The best way to make change is to start here and now.
The Red Deer Food Bank is a vital organization of passionate people who are dedicated to fighting hunger in central Alberta. Wanting to pivot away from the low-budget look we often see with smaller non-profits, they tasked us at Monitor with the challenge of designing a brand that conveyed credibility while also making community outreach exciting.
The RDFB is led by an incredibly wholesome and forward-thinking team who treats their clients with dignity and approaches their work with joy. And so we set out to create an identity that was inviting, hopeful, and fun—a reflection of the people who are at the heart of this community.
The logo honours the roots and values of the organization while clearly communicating what it is they do. We also created a detailed brand guide to support the in-house team as they bring the brand forward into new initiatives and day-to-day operations.
One of the most important aspects of the brand (and my personal favourite part) are the Helpers. We developed these playful, wholesome characters to personify the Food Bank’s rally-the-people attitude and core beliefs.
There’s always something we can do to help, especially when we do it together.
We continued to bring the whole brand to life across a variety of assets.
As a budget-conscious non-profit, cost and ease of use were top priority, so we set the Food Bank up with a Squarespace website. A branded coat of paint, plus a little UX treatment and thoughtful organization, made the website feel bespoke.
We can solve hunger together.
